A Letter from our President Lion Joe Curran:
We have just had our first Dinner Meeting on September 9th and it was a well-attended and fun-filled evening. It was a pleasure to see such a large crowd and savor the wonderful food which TJ’s provides. Bob Johnson, the President and CEO of Special Olympics, gave a very interesting speech about Special Needs people. We learned that their life expectancy has increased dramatically since the closure of the state institutions back in the 1970’s. Bob along with Terry Kielty, the Vice President of Special Olympics presented our club with an award commemorating 20 years of service to Special Olympics. In addition, a special individual award was presented to Lion Carl Philippo for his 20 years of dedicated service. (more…)
